Mr. Zawinul has left this earth to begin the journey of eternity. Thank you for sharing your gift of music with us here. Listening to Weather Report all day @ my music store!

Sad news indeed - Mr. Zawinul was/is such an inspiration to me for so many years... it is truly hard to believe he has passed from this world.

I am sure that he will continue to inspire generations for many, many years to come.

A great musician.

My first synthesizer memory is of my older brother playing Weather Report's Mysterious Traveler album - still a favorite. This would have been in 1975 or so, maybe 76. I asked him what the strange sounds were and he showed me a picture of a Moog in the Whole Earth Catalog. I was very intrigued and remember telling my friends at school about this thing that looked and sounded like a scifi movie.

RIP in Joe.
