Casio PT-7
Well, it looks as though I'll be spending my winter break making synth videos, then. This one is of the frankly awesome Casio PT-7, an obscure toy synth with eight sounds, six rhythms, and a unique detachable foil keyboard that hooks onto the main unit for transport. The nice thing about this video is that it demonstrates every single function of the PT-7 in under 2 minutes. Try doing that with your Moog Voyager!

That is too cool. I've never seen one of those before. Thanks for posting it. I wonder when it came out and if it's full on analog. I wonder what's producing the core sound and if it can be modded with a few tiny knobs to control basics like filter, resonance pitch and the like.
Hey Matrix---I don't think there's any kind of filter in there, and I'm afraid to take it apart and look for trimpots. But it's definitely all analog--it's hard to tell from the lousy YouTube audio but the drums really sound pretty great, in that cheapo home-keyboard way. It's the same sound generation system as some of the MT-series, I think like MT-45 maybe? The info is on the Tablehooters site, but that site seems to be down right now...
Thanks. I'll have to check it out. I feel the need to hit a swap-meet and garage/tag sales again. : )
No white gloves? Demo's gotta have white gloves or oven mitts. Sheesh!
With the full polyphony I'd guess there's a top octave divider (or some other digitalness) hiding in there.....
ma io la voglio!
Wow, that thing has ultra-bass! It's like a kid's version of an Arp 2600, painted white.
